MYTHOLOGY MEME(1/2) Mythological Objects

Tyrfing was a magic sword in Norse Mythology featured in the Tyrfing Cycle. Svanfrlami, the king of Gardirki, managed to trap two dwarves and forced them to forge a sword with a golden hilt that would never miss a stroke, never rust, and would cut through stone and iron as easily as clothes. The dwarves made him the sword, but in revenge they also places a curse on it. The sword would kill a man every time it was drawn; the sword would be the cause of three great evils; the sword would eventually kill Svafrlami himeself.

The sword would cause three great tragedies before the curse was broken, and Tyrfing was claimed by Angantyr, the next king of the Goths. He would use the sword when he defended his kingdom against his illegitimate brother Hlod, and now that the curse was broken Tyrfing would be the reason for his victory.
